free track time! A local Nissan dealership sponsored a track session today at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet. We were able to get on the track during the lunch break. Not as fast as a normal day, but free is free and it was fun to have such a large group of Z's. Thought my track calender was done for the season, but today got the itch started again. Looks like I need to find another match in the fall schedule. Took a few pics in the member's paddock area:
Sweet arse Vantage
The driver of this Porsche is a track member. The car has a great story. It was originally purchased in 1975 by Hugh Heffner and given to the 1975 playmate of the year in Chicago. It was then sold to a local doctor, then the current owner bought it. Really pretty color in person. The car is the same age as me!
This Viper is a regular on the One Lap of America. He's been at several track events I've attended this summer and is one of the sexiest exhaust notes you'll ever hear. Full tubular chassis... and when you peak inside, cruise control!
There were a handful of Atoms running on the North circuit. If you've never heard one in person, they sound like a two cycle motor in a metal garbage can... as it passes you and disappears into the 4 cylinder distance
